Choosing a ceiling fan with integrated light: the 2-in-1 guide

Most living rooms have a single ceiling electrical point: the central fixture's. That is objection number one against ceiling fans, choosing between light and air. The fan with integrated light dissolves it: one appliance, both functions, one remote.

Why a fan-light rather than two appliances?

How bright, and why dimming changes everything
Figure on about 100 lm/m² for ambient light: 2,000 to 3,000 lm for a 20-30 m² living room, topped up by low lamps. Too bright with no way down is the common mistake, which is why a dimmable LED is the heart of the specification: full power for cleaning, half for living, minimum for dinner, adjusted from the included remote, independently of fan speed.
