The Boréal 107 or a reversible heat pump: which one?
Both spec sheets side by side, and what really separates them.
Line by line
| The Boréal 107 | a reversible heat pump | |
|---|---|---|
| What gets cooled | the person, by evaporation on the skin | the air in the room |
| Ten-year cost, one bedroom | €200 to €300 | €3,000 to €6,000, servicing and energy included |
| Its limit | nothing left to give above 35 °C of ambient air | none on temperature, but a cost that runs all year |
| The two together | setpoint 2 to 3 °C higher, compressor running less | the most frugal combination where a heat pump is needed |
What the other one does better
A heat pump is the right call above a sustained 32 °C, for vulnerable people, or in a poorly insulated south-facing home. And the two combine well: with a fan, the setpoint rises by 2 to 3 °C and the compressor runs less.
